GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – If you have been on social media lately, you may have come across Green Bay Packers Memaw and her song “Brat, Beer and a Burp.” It has turned into a popular hit among many Packers fans ahead of another football season.
“It’s them, it is all about them, it’s their song, and they should be singing it, along with me, of course,” says Menominee, Michigan native and Memaw Joann Torreano.

She wrote the song 26 years ago and had told her granddaughter, Hannah Lamarre, that she was thinking of giving it to a local band in Menominee to use.
Hannah didn’t like that idea, and had come up with asking her Memaw to sing the Packers song that she would sing to her growing up, in different places. Thus, Green Bay Memaw was born.
“She was drinking her coffee in her favorite chair in the morning, and I was like, ‘Grandma, would you like it if I took a video of you singing your song and just post it on social media, on TikTok, Instagram and see what happens with it?'” Hannah said. “She said, ‘ok.’ She didn’t know what the heck I was talking about, but our first video got over 7,000 views.”
They recorded videos in the Packers Pro Shop and Kwik Trip gas stations, and started to get millions of views.
Joann first wrote the song as a poem, and had called a radio show, asking if Packers legend Donald Driver would use the song as walk-up music.
She then turned it into a song and, with Wisconsin tradition, added a little polka flair into the mix.
“I wrote it for the fans, because I think that the fans are great, the Packers fans are just great and I wanted the Packers fans to be recognized. I like to put memories into a poem, ” says Torreano.
While posting her singing the song every day, with the hopes that the Packers notice, Memaw gets to live out her dream.
“[I hope that] at a Packer game, at the end of the 3rd quarter, it’s up on the lights, written out, and the whole stadium stands up and starts singing ‘I wanna be a Packers fan’, and doing a little bit of a polka dance, they can stay in place and do the polka.”
