LOYAL, Wis. (WFRV) – One person is dead and a 12-year-old child was seriously injured after a van crashed into the back of their horse-drawn buggy in central Wisconsin on Saturday.
Deputies with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office say they got a 911 call around 2:50 p.m. on August 9, reporting a crash on CTH K north of Spencer Road in the Town of Loyal.
An initial investigation reportedly indicated that the horse-drawn buggy was northbound on CTH K when a northbound van allegedly hit it from the rear, deputies say.

Both the buggy and van came to rest in a ditch.
The buggy’s adult passenger died at the scene of the crash, and a 12-year-old passenger was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
The crash remains under investigation.
