(WFRV) — Severe weather impacted much of the state Aug. 9-10, bringing torrential rain to the Milwaukee area and damaging winds to portions of northeast Wisconsin.
Thousands were without power in northeast Wisconsin throughout the weekend as heavy rain loosened the ground just for strong winds of 40-55 mph to topple over trees and power lines.

To the south, stationary and slow-moving thunderstorms produced heavy rain around Milwaukee, resulting in the closure of many roads due to flooding, the cancellation of the final day of the Wisconsin State Fair and a portion of Lilly Road in Menomonee Falls being washed away.
The Milwaukee River at the Milwaukee-Estabrook Park reporting station hit a record crest of 11.6 feet early Monday morning, while another record crest was observed at the Root River in Franklin at 11.7 feet. The Fox River at the Waukesha reporting site is closing in on its record crest of 8.8 feet.

The National Weather Service in Green Bay and Milwaukee has released rain and wind reports from the weekend. The heaviest rain in the Green Bay coverage area fell across Door and Winnebago counties. Portions of Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha counties recorded 9-12 inches of rain.
