(WFRV) – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is now accepting applications for its special firearm deer hunt at Sandhill Wildlife Area.
According to a press release from the DNR, the two-day hunt is scheduled for November 8 and 9, 2025, on the 9,150-acre property in central Wisconsin. Applications are due by September 22.
Permit levels will be set to keep the deer population stable while balancing the herd’s sex radio, according to DNR wildlife biologist Darren Ladwig.

Hunters who are selected will receive either an antlerless-only permit or an either-sex permit. All deer harvested must be tested for chronic wasting disease (CWD) at an on-site registration station.
The hunt is limited to licensed firearm hunters and includes special rules that will be emailed to successful applicants.
More information and applications are available on the DNR’s Sandhill Outdoor Skills Center website.
