DOOR COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Deputies with the Door County Sheriff’s Office provided an update on the body recovered from Peninsula State Park, saying the victim was a woman from Fond du Lac.
According to a release on August 20, the victim was identified as 61-year-old Carol A. Peterson of Fond du Lac.
Peterson’s body was recovered near Nicolet Bay Campground on August 19, and an autopsy was conducted on August 20.
Deputies were initially called to the area around 8:15 a.m. and were able to quickly locate Peterson’s body.
This incident remains under active investigation.
