FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – A 32-year-old man was arrested in Fond du Lac on Wednesday night after officers conducted a search warrant at a home on Martin Avenue, prompting a shelter-in-place order.
According to a release from the Fond du Lac Police and Chief Aaron Goldstein, an officer was following up on an unrelated incident when two family members approached the officer and reported concerns over their 32-year-old son.

According to the release, the officer learned that a 29-year-old woman inside the apartment was being blocked in. The man was reportedly holding a box cutter, and the woman was inside with an 8-month-old child.
The suspect released both the mother and child after learning that additional police presence had arrived at the apartment, with officers quickly securing the victims, who have been reported as safe.
According to the release, there were additional reports of domestic violence throughout the day. A shelter-in-place was issued for nearby residents and people in the building as a precaution, while officers evacuated neighbors.
Rescue vehicles and K-9 units responded to the scene, and an investigation is ongoing into the additional reported incidents.
Officers reportedly used an explosive breach tactic after using flash bangs as they entered the residence around 9:10 p.m. following several hours of the shelter-in-place. The suspect was arrested around 9:20 p.m.

Chief Goldstein provided the following statement in a release:
“We are incredibly thankful this traumatic incident ended without further harm to a mother and her child. This was a dangerous situation and the coordinated response by our FDLPD Officers alongside our law enforcement partners was instrumental in ensuring a safe outcome. I am proud of the courage and professionalism shown by our Officers and thankful for the agencies who continue to stand beside us when every second counts.”
