SUPERIOR, Wis. (WFRV) – A 34-year-old Wisconsin man was taken into custody after allegedly stealing a vehicle with the victim’s dog inside.
According to the Superior Police Department, officers were called shortly before 12:45 a.m. to the Regina Hill Apartments on East 5th Street for a report of a stolen vehicle.

The stolen vehicle, a blue Ford Expedition, was being followed by a caller who witnessed the theft and contacted 911. Superior Police, along with Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies, positioned near the Blatnik Bridge in anticipation of the suspect’s route.
Tire deflation devices were successfully deployed, and the SUV was pursued onto the bridge toward Duluth. The vehicle came to a stop at the Garfield Avenue exit, where the driver fled on foot. After a short chase through brush, the suspect surrendered and was arrested.
Officers found the victim’s dog inside the SUV and safely returned it to its owner.
The suspect, a 34-year-old Superior man, was arrested on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and theft. He was taken to the Douglas County Jail.
