GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Fans who came to the Packers Luncheon were met with excitement as they waited for the players to be introduced, and figure out which table is there’s to talk with players.
It’s an event that not many professional teams have, where the players interact in a setting quite like this, allowing fans to ask more personal questions, instead of the football ones they are so used to answering.
“Just kind of see their perspective on live, I’m sure they get asked a lot of football questions, but to see who they are as a person, kinda like talk about their experiences, if they are a rookie their college experience, and kind of their path to get here, and see what motivates them is a really cool thing,” says Keegan Brewe from Green Bay.
Many fans attending the event are regulars, or first-time, but still appreciate the effort the team makes to do this, to further connect with the community.
“I think it’s cool to see what their story is, and what brought them here, right, their path and journey to get to the NFL, and what they do outside of it. Last year we sat with Elgton Jenkins, really cool dude, so looking forward to it,” says Ryan Woods from Madison.
Packers ‘First Downs For Trees’ program brings 350 new trees to Green Bay area in 15th year
The gathering also serves as a networking opportunity for many of the people there, and a way to keep building the economy in Green Bay.
“I think it’s great, right? It’s a no-pressure type networking event, a good opportunity to spend lunch in a beautiful venue like this, get to see the players and friends and clients and reconnect with people we might not have seen in a long time,” says Chris Friedrich from Sherwood.
And the who was the player many wanted to sit with? Of course it was QB1, Jordan Love.
“(Jordan Love) Told us about some of the routines that he and the lineman do, which is pretty interesting to hear, it’s pretty great to hear that perspective, of how a big-name high-profile quarterback goes about their routines and their superstitions of their game,” says Jonas Hill from Onieda.
Head Coach Matt LaFluer said he is asking the fans this season to pack Lambeau Field and be loud when the Lions come into town for Week 1.
