BROWN COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Health officials say measles is now spreading locally after confirming more cases last week.
According to a Facebook post from Brown County Public Health Services (DHS), they’ve reported 12 confirmed cases and 2 probable measles vases in Oconto County as of August 25, 2025.
Five of those cases were confirmed last week and are linked to earlier cases identified on August 2.

DHS is working with Oconto County Public Health and nearby departments to track exposures and notify anyone who may have been in contact with the virus.
According to the CDC, measles spreads easily through coughing and sneezing. Early symptoms include cough, runny nose, red or watery eyes, and small white spots inside the mouth. A red rash usually develops several days later, starting at the hairline and spreading down the body.
Health officials urge anyone who develops symptoms to stay home and call their doctor or clinic before visiting in person, so precautions can be taken.
