DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) – Firefighters used about 1,000 gallons of water to put out a duplex fire in De Pere early Wednesday morning.
The De Pere Fire Department responded around 5:45 a.m. to a report of a structure fire on the 1100 block of Scheuring Road. Dispatch reported that all residents had safely evacuated, though visible flames were coming from the garage and smoke was pouring from the attic.

Crews arrived to find a one-story duplex with fire in the garage and attic, with smoke visible from all sides of the structure. Firefighters began an exterior attack before moving inside to confirm all residents were out and to fully extinguish the flames.

No injuries were reported, and the American Red Cross was called to assist displaced residents. Damage to the property and its contents is estimated at $150,000.
The De Pere Fire Department is reminding residents to handle lithium-ion batteries with care, noting that if they are damaged or misused, the batteries can catch fire or explode.
