NEENAH, Wis., (WFRV)- The sound of marching bands and crowds filled the streets for the 42nd annual labor celebration. And people from across northeast Wisconsin were in attendance, all celebrating Labor Day.
Labor Day was first recognized in 1894, marking the celebration of American workers.
Those participating in the events today, like Cathy Borree from Menasha, are reflecting and celebrating.
“People before us have forged and paved the way, and made working conditions and benefits, and we are the beneficiaries of all that hard work,” said Borree.
Labor Day picnic in Green Bay honors workers with a celebration
Borree was there to pay homage to those who have helped pave the way for the future.
“People striving to be better for the everyday person,” Borree echoed.
After the parade, the Fox Valley Area Labor Council hosted its annual cookout, featuring music, corn, and activities for everyone.
“Most people don’t realize or think about what goes on, for labor, and this is just a way to give back and show respect for it,” said Fox Valley Area Labor Council President Jason Schmitz.
Whether it is parades, picnics, or time with family, Labor Day brings people together to celebrate those who keep America moving.
