MANITOWOC, Wis. (WFRV) – After the departure was pushed back a few days due to high winds and weather, the USS Cobia and tugboat Nickelena have left the Manitowoc harbor and will arrive in Sturgeon Bay later today.
The USS Cobia’s scheduled departure was initially set for September 4 with a backup date of September 5, but due to high winds, the departure was rescheduled for Sunday, September 7.
“The Wisconsin Maritime Museum has worked with all parties to find an alternative date after needing to cancel the original date of September 4th,” officials said in a release. “Wind conditions are forecasted to subside by Sunday, providing for safe travels for Cobia and her crew.”
