JACKSON COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash in west-central Wisconsin early Monday morning.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received an automated severe crash notification from a cellular phone around 1:15 a.m. on State Highway 71 near the Monroe and Jackson County line.

Emergency crews arrived to find a heavily damaged vehicle that had left the roadway. Life-saving measures were attempted on one person found at the scene, but the individual was pronounced dead.

Deputies say evidence indicates the vehicle was traveling westbound on State Highway 71 near Cabin Avenue when it lost control, entered the ditch, and struck a large tree. The driver was ejected in the crash.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
