ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Authorities have identified a driver killed in a crash on I-39 near Baxter Road on Thursday morning.
The crash was reported at 10:25 a.m.
Blackhawk Fire Protection District Deputy Chief Kevin Schulz said a vehicle was heading south on I-39 and lost control at Mile Marker 115, crossed over the northbound lanes, and crashed into the ditch.
Schulz said two people were taken from the scene via ambulance to Rockford area hospitals with critical injuries.
On Friday, Winnebago County Chief Deputy Coroner Matt Lane said Jeffrey Quinn, 54, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, died at 11:53 a.m. An autopsy report showed Quinn died of blunt trauma to the chest.
New Milford Fire Protection District, Blackhawk Fire, Cherry Valley Fire, and the Winnebago County Sheriff were among the agencies summoned to the scene.
