GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Green Bay Police Department says a student was arrested Tuesday afternoon after two lunchtime disturbances at Preble High School that led officers to recover a handgun and ammunition.
Green Bay Police say they responded to a fight in the school’s commons around noon on September 9. While addressing the incident, officers witnesses a second, unrelated altercation requiring more police intervention.
During the investigation, a juvenile believed to be involved in the first disturbance was also suspected of bringing a gun onto campus. Officers later found a handgun and ammunition inside a backpack in a locked classroom.

The student was taken into custody, and police say charges will be referred as the investigation continues.
As a precaution, Green Bay Police will have an increased presence at Preble High on Wednesday, September 10.
In a statement, the district thanked the quick action of the school’s administrative team, the School Resource Officer, and Green Bay Police, crediting them for ensuring no one was harmed.
“We recognize the serious nature of today’s incident and we will have additional police presence and Student Services staff at Preble tomorrow for students who wish to talk about the events of today. In addition, we remind our staff that EAP services are available to them,” Green Bay Area Public School District said in an emailed statement.
