GERMANTOWN, Wis. (WFRV) – A Wisconsin manufacturing plant that produces plastic packaging film and sheets will permanently close, which is reportedly affecting 48 workers.
According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Pregis Innovative Packaging, LLC plans to shutter its Germantown facility. The closure will affect both salaried and hourly employees, none of whom are represented by a union.

The company anticipates the closure will be completed by April 30, 2026, with all employee separations occurring on or before that date. Pregis also confirmed there are no bumping rights, meaning senior workers cannot take over positions held by junior employees.
Pregis sent a statement to Local 5 News saying, “The machine building activities performed in the Pregis facility located in Germantown are being relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, creating a centralized equipment center of excellence. This move is intended to streamline internal processes, optimize the production footprint, and support future growth with enhanced customer experience. Our goal is to retain as many of our employees as possible across the Pregis network. The plan is to fully transition the activities to the Tulsa facility in 2026 and cease operations within the Germantown location. We are working closely with the local resources, including the DWD (Department of Workforce Development), to help ease the transition for impacted employees. Pregis has two other facilities in Sussex and Elkhorn, Wisconsin.”
This marks the fourth layoff notice in Wisconsin in September 2025, adding to a string of recent job reduction announcements across the state.
