(NEXSTAR) — Check your wine: Costco has recalled a bottle of its wine over a spontaneous shattering risk.
Earlier this month, Costco sent alerts to customers who purchased the impacted Kirkland offering, Allrecipes reported.
The notice, which was also posted to Costco’s website, identified the recalled wine as Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene.

The recalled wine was sold between April 25, 2025, and August 26, 2025, in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
According to the company, the bottle can shatter, “even when not handled or in use.”
“If you have an unopened bottle, do not open it,” Costco warns in the notice, adding that you should not return it to your warehouse. Instead, you’re asked to wrap it in paper towels, then place it in a plastic bag before throwing it away.
To receive a full refund, you’ll need to bring the letter Costco sent you to your nearest warehouse. Questions can be directed to Ethica Wines via email (customercare@ethicawines.com) or by calling 786-810-7132 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET during weekdays.
