ALMA CENTER, Wis. (WFRV) – A 56-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested on Wednesday night for his 11th Operating While Intoxicated offense after reportedly driving away following an incident at a business.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies were alerted that an intoxicated patron at a business in the Village of Alma Center had broken items before driving off at high speeds.

A deputy found the matching vehicle, noticing damage to the front end, and stopped the driver after a reported traffic violation. The driver, identified as 56-year-old Charles Spangler, displayed signs of impairment and refused field sobriety tests.
Spangler was taken into custody, and a gun was found in his vehicle. A crash located elsewhere is believed to have involved Spangler as well.

Spangler was subsequently arrested for the following charges, along with his 11th OWI:
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
- Tampering with ignition interlock
- Operating after revocation
- Threats to law enforcement
Spangler was on probation/parole for felony OWI and for possession of a firearm by a felon at the time of the arrest.
