APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – Several Valley fire departments and emergency personnel took part in a mock multi-vehicle crash today near 3100 French Road, just north of I-41.
The exercise involved crews from Appleton, Grand Chute, Kimberly, Vandenbroek, Little Chute, Fox Valley Metro, and Gold Cross.

Fire Chief Duane Nechodom of Little Chute, who has served 30 years with three as chief, said the drills give departments a chance to test their equipment, coordinate responses, and refine emergency procedures. The last exercise of this kind was held in 2020.
Vehicles for the drill were donated by local businesses, and crash victims were played by members of the Outagamie County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
The goal is to increase efficiency in getting victims out of vehicles, save time during real emergencies, and stay prepared for the recent uptick in accidents on I-41, which has seen additional challenges from ongoing construction.
