GILLETT, Wis. (WFRV) – A 24-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash in Oconto County that also left another driver and a two-year-old hospitalized on Saturday morning.
According to the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, first responders were called to STH 22 near the intersection of Old 22 Road and CTH P in Gillett just before 10:30 a.m. on September 20.
Based on a preliminary investigation, a southbound truck driven by a 22-year-old man from Sobieski on STH 22 was reportedly hit by a northbound SUV when it crossed the centerline. The SUV was driven by a 24-year-old man from Gillett with a 2-year-old passenger.

The 24-year-old driver died at the scene. The 2-year-old passenger and the 22-year-old other driver were taken to local hospitals for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash.
An ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office and the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office.
