MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (WFRV) — A 35-year-old woman was arrested Monday morning after allegedly driving while intoxicated and crashing into a school bus carrying children.
Officers with the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded shortly after 8 a.m. to Stuart Road near Slater Avenue for a report of a crash involving a school bus.

Investigators said the woman was driving a black SUV southbound when she crossed the center line and collided with a school bus that was traveling northbound. Several witnesses remained on scene.
Nineteen elementary-aged children were on the bus, and none were hurt. The bus driver was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The woman and a two-year-old passenger in her SUV were not injured.

The woman was arrested on charges including operating while intoxicated, second offense, with a passenger younger than 16, and recklessly endangering safety. Additional charges are possible.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
