APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – A 42-year-old Appleton man was sentenced on September 25 to 10 years in prison for illegal possession of a firearm stemming from an incident in 2024.
Acting United States Attorney Richard G. Frohling of the Eastern District of Wisconsin announced that the Appleton Police Department responded to a reported domestic disturbance on Christmas Day.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a woman lying on the floor in a pool of blood with Jason Evans kicking her in the head. Evans was arrested as officers seized four guns. Evans, a convicted felon, is barred from possessing firearms.
Officials tested the guns, learning that they were connected with a November 1, 2024, shooting in Oshkosh, involving a suspect who shot at occupied vehicles following a verbal incident. Evans was later identified as the shooter.
