EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in western Wisconsin released information about a deadly crash involving a ‘dangerous driver’.
According to the Eau Claire Police Department, on October 1, around 2:40 a.m., officers tried to pull over a vehicle that was driving at a high rate of speed into oncoming traffic. The driver was driving dangerously, police said.
Authorities reportedly lost sight of the driver, but was seen driving minutes later with their headlights off.

The driver ended up crashing into another motorist at the intersection. Police say the victim’s vehicle was in flames after the crash.
The victim died as a result of the crash, police said.
The suspect was taken to a hospital, where they were allegedly combative and violent with officers and hospital staff.
Police had the following statement in the release:
Our hearts are heavy following this tragic incident. The suspect’s reckless actions took the life of an innocent member of our community. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim. We are committed to supporting their loved ones and all of the first responders affected by this incident.
The Eau Claire Police Department requested the involvement of the Wisconsin DOJ and State Patrol to complete the investigation.
