WAUSAU, Wis. (WFRV) – Police in Wausau are actively investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy whose body was recovered from the Wisconsin River Sunday evening.
According to a release from the Wausau Police Department, fire and police personnel responded at 8:30 p.m. fr reports of a possible drowning near the boat and kayak dock in the 1200 block of North River Drive along the River Edge Parkway.

Witnesses reportedly told officials that they saw the 16-year-old enter the river from the dock but never saw him resurface.
Wausau fire crews found and recovered the teen’s body from the water at 9:10 p.m. near the area where he was said to have been last seen.
Life-saving efforts were immediately initiated and continued while he was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
