30+ buckets of joint compound improperly left in Outagamie County recycling bin

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials in Outagamie County say more than 30 buckets of joint compound were found improperly disposed of in a recycling bin.

According to a release from Outagamie County Recycling and Solid Waste, this was a clear case of improper use of the public recycling drop-off as joint compound buckets, as well as other 5-gallon pails, are not accepted at either the public drop-off or curbside at a resident’s home.

Officials say heavy misuse of the free public recycling drop-off program makes it difficult to keep the program operational and free.

They add that while the park bins are monitored it is up to the members throughout the Outagamie County community to properly recycle.

In order to keep the program sustainable, those recycling plastic items need to make sure that they are only drop-off accepted curbside recyclable items like household bottles, jars & jugs, Dairy, and produce and bakery containers with lids.

All plastic recycling should also be empty, clean, and dry in order for it to be properly recycled.
