DEKORRA, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in central Wisconsin say a 42-year-old man was arrested Friday night for what is reported to be his 6th Operating While Intoxicated offense.
According to a release from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at 9:55 p.m. in the Town of Dekorra after the driver committed a traffic violation.

When deputies made contact with the driver, they say he showed signs of impairment and, following an OWI investigation, the deputies confirmed that the driver was impaired.
42-year-old Christopher Kovacs from rural Lodi was arrested and taken to the Columbia County Jail where he is awaiting an initial appearance in court for the following potential charges:
- Operating while intoxicated – 6th offense
- Operating after revocation
- Failure to install an ignition interlock

Kovacs was said to be operating a vehicle that was registered to another person. Officials are making the public aware that under state law (Wisconsin Statute 343.45), vehicle owners who knowingly allow someone without a valid driver’s license to operate their vehicle can be cited.
