APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – Options for Independent Living in Appleton held a free wheelchair wash on Friday.
Anyone with a mobility device was invited to bring it in for a cleaning and a safety check to ensure everything was working properly. Organizers say they try to host the event annually when they can gather all the professionals needed.

“I always like to say, think about how many times we like to get our car washed, or how great a new pair of shoes feels,” said Autumn Nordall, Options for Independent Living’s advocacy coordinator. “It just feels good to sit in a nice, clean piece of equipment that we know is safe and fitting our needs.”
Appleton Mayor Jake Woodford also attended the event, grilling up free lunch for attendees.
