City of Oshkosh selects Tim Heiman as new Fire Chief

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Oshkosh announced on Thursday that they have selected the community’s next Fire Chief.

According to a release from the City of Oshkosh, the Oshkosh Police and Fire Commission has selected Tim Heiman for the role of Fire Chief.

Officials say Heiman, who is currently a Divison Chief of Training for the Oshkosh Fire Department, has 20 years of fire and emergency management experience including 10 years as a supervisor and command-level officer.

I am pleased with the Police and Fire Commission’s decision to select Tim. The Commission and designated panels recognized Mr. Heiman’s proven record in Fire and Emergency Response Management, and his demonstrated commitment to the highest levels of community service.

Heiman is said to have earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Carroll University as well as an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science from Milwaukee Area Technical College. He also received Executive Frie Certification from the National Fire Academy.

In his current position as the Division Chief of Training in Oshkosh, officials say Heiman oversees the development and execution of all training programs for the Oshkosh Fire Department.

Throughout his time in his current role, he has implemented an updated fire ground command system, partnered with neighboring departments to establish the first regional recruit academy in the Fox Valley area, and was recognized in 2022 as the Wisconsin Society of Emergency Services Instructor of the Year.
