De Pere wins in walk-off fashion, hand Manitowoc its first loss

DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) – After winning the division one state championship last season, De Pere is off to a 7-1 start, including a thrilling 1-0 win over Manitowoc Lincoln in extra innings on Monday.

In a showdown between the top two teams in the FRCC, pitching took center stage. Manitowoc’s Brayden Steinbecker tossed seven and a third innings, allowing just five hits, walking one, and striking out eight. For De Pere, senior Lucas Koskey was lights out. striking out eight over six and two-thirds on the bump.

The game ultimately ended via an error on a throw from third to first, as senior Mason Sequin nabbed his first career walk-off. Check out the highlights in the video above, and hear from Sequin about the celebration that ensued.
