Fond du Lac man taken into custody after standoff, officers investigate domestic violence incident

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – The subject of an hours-long standoff on Sunday was taken into custody following an investigation into a domestic violence incident in Fond du Lac.

According to the Fond du Lac Police Department, officers followed up on a domestic violence incident that happened on April 19. Part of that follow-up, officers arrived at a residence in the 300 block of Doty Street around 8:30 a.m. on April 20.

Officers then learned that the suspect, a 29-year-old man, was alone in the residence. Additional officers arrived and set up a perimeter. Out of precaution, officers ordered a shelter-in-place.

The Fond du Lac Police Department and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams were activated. Both agencies also deployed their rescue armored vehicles, K-9 teams, and Technology Response Groups.

Around 1:20 p.m., the man was taken into custody without further incident. He was taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail.

The incident is under investigation. No other details were provided.
