‘Frost Advisory’ issued across northeast Wisconsin

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – While the weather pattern we are currently in promotes plenty of sunshine, when we lose that heating mechanism, it can get chilly around northeast Wisconsin.

A clear and calm night is expected tonight and a process called radiational cooling will take place. This is when the earth’s surface and surrounding air cool off rapidly so lows tonight will fall into the low to mid 30s. Widespread areas of frost are possible.

The growing season for Green Bay and the Fox Valley was deemed active on May 7. The National Weather Service in both Green Bay and Milwaukee have issued a Frost Advisory for most of the WFRV coverage area from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. Friday morning.

This does not include Langlade, northern Oconto, northern Marinette and Menominee county in the U.P. as the growing season up there does not begin until May 14.

It is advised to bring sensitive plants indoors and cover them up with some sort of protection tonight. Our average last freeze usually occurs between May 1st and May 15.
