Gov. Evers, Oneida Nation join NFL to plant trees as part of Green the League initiative

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The NFL’s Green the League initiative brought together Governor Tony Evers and members of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin on Monday to plant trees and promote environmental stewardship.

The group gathered at the Oneida Cultural Heritage Center to help improve air quality, reduce heat, and support local wildlife by planting more than 50 trees.

“We have taken a lot of trees on the land,” said Gov. Evers. “We’ve got to put it back on. It’s environmentally smart to be able to have more trees and take care of a lot of carbon that happens in our state, so it’s not only beautiful, but it’s just the right thing to do economically.”
