Green Bay man pleads guilty to reckless homicide in 2023 Cass Street shooting

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A Green Bay man accused of fatally shooting a 24-year-old during an alleged argument has reached a plea deal.

Court records show that 24-year-old Michael Putala appeared in Brown County court Friday and pleaded guilty to second-degree reckless homicide.

As part of the agreement, two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety with use of a dangerous weapon were dismissed.

Putala was arrested on July 15, 2023, after voluntarily turning himself in to discuss the incident, which happened the previous day in the 1100 block of Cass Street.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A Green Bay man accused of shooting and killing a 24-year-old man during an alleged argument had a preliminary hearing in Brown County court.

Court records show 23-year-old Michael Putala appeared with an attorney, and the court found probable cause and bound him over for arraignment.

He is facing a First-Degree Reckless Homicide charge with the use of a dangerous weapon, alongside two counts of First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety with the use of a dangerous weapon.

Putala was arrested on Saturday, July 15, after he voluntarily turned himself in to discuss the incident from Friday, July 14, in the 1100 block of Cass Street in the City of Green Bay.
