HARRIS, Mich. (WFRV) – Between June 20-22, the Island Resort & Casino will host the 14th iteration of the Island Resort Championship. The Epson Tour, which includes women’s golf professionals seeking to earn their LPGA card, has played the tournament at Sweetgrass golf course ever since 2011.
144 golfers are competing for a $225,000 purse and a chance to qualify for the LPGA tour.
Last year, inclement weather docked the tournament from its normal three rounds to just two, but no matter the conditions next month, the excitement is already building. For the first time since 2019, the Island Resort & Casino hosted a media day ahead of the outing, and as Local 5’s Cameron Ezeir previews, the tournament is always a highlight on the Tour.
