BROWN COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Donald Jossart, a farmer from Brown County, recently found his long-lost wallet, which had been buried in his fields for five years.
The Brown County Libray took to Facebook to post this incredible story that began in September 2013 when Donald was plowing a field with his tractor.
After working for a few hours, he returned home for lunch, only to discover that his wallet was missing. He realized it had slipped out of his pocket and got buried in the soil.
Despite searching the fields with the help of friends and family, Donald could not find his wallet. It contained important items like his driver’s license, library card, gift cards, and $200 in cash, all of which he assumed were lost for good.
He eventually reported the loss and replaced everything that he could.
Years passed with no sign of his wallet, but Donald held onto hope that he would one day find it again. Then, in May 2018, while using his land roller, he felt something come out of the ground. To his surprise, it was his wallet.
Donald was ecstatic. However, the cash was gone, reduced to dust, and the gift cards had expired. His credit cards and library cards remained intact, but the library card needed an update.
When Donald visited the library to replace his card, he shared this incredible story with two staff members who encouraged him to write it down.
