(WFRV) – The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the largest one-day food collection effort in the U.S., returns on Saturday, May 10th. Every year, letter carriers across the country collect bags of non-perishable food donations to help stock local food banks.
If you’re interested in participating, just place a bag of non-perishable food next to your mailbox before mail delivery on May 10 by 9 a.m. Your letter carrier and local volunteers will pick it up and make sure it gets to a local food pantry.
When making a donation, officials remind participants to please ensure that the non-perishable food items are in non-glass containers, such as cans, boxes, or plastic jars, to ensure safe and easy transport.
Jeremy Beck from the National Association of Letter Carriers told Local 5 Live that this is their 32nd year. He says it’s a really good way to give back to the community.
