MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Menasha say a 67-year-old man is dead after initially being rescued Wednesday night from the waters of Little Lake Butte des Morts.
According to a release from the Menasha Police Department, officers responded at 9:58 p.m. to the area of Emily and Ninth Street for reports of a man heard yelling.
Upon arrival, officials say a man was found about 15 to 20 feet offshore in the water of Little Lake Butte des Morts just to the south of the Ninth Street boat landing.

Police initially attempted to reach the man with a throwable floating life disc but were unsuccessful leading to an officer having to enter the water and pull the man to shore.
Life-saving measures were attempted and the 67-year-old was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
No other information is available at this time and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. Local Five will update this story should additional details be released.
