DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) – To continue its goal of promoting a sustainable urban agricultural system in the Green Bay area, New Leaf Foods’ Community Orchards team planted and installed orchards in De Pere on Thursday.
New Leaf Foods’ Community Orchards team and the De Pere Parks and Forestry Department gathered at a couple of locations to plant the orchards. A few weeks ago, New Leaf Prep Academy expanded its community orchard.
Sustainably Speaking: Fork Farm’s units at Luxemburg-Casco High School
The duo spent the morning planting two community orchards, starting at Samantha Park, with residents invited to learn for free on planting techniques.
The new orchards mean that there are now 11 locations with community orchards, according to New Leaf Foods’ website. There are still five more locations with upcoming dates for installations.
