Officer-involved shooting in Wisconsin, investigation ongoing

RACINE, Wis. (WFRV) – An investigation is underway following an officer-involved shooting Tuesday evening in southern Wisconsin.

According to a release from the Racine Police Department, officers responded just before 6:00 p.m. to a home on the 1100 block of Hamilton Street for reports of an active armed home invasion.

Officials on the scene say they heard gunshots fired inside the home occupied by several adults and children.

Police immediately entered the home and engaged with the suspect, eventually taking a 42-year-old man from Racine into custody.

None of the residents in the home were hit by the suspect’s gunfire. The 42-year-old suspect was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The Kenosha-Racine Area Investigative Team (KRAIT) was activated to investigate the officer-involved shooting aspect of the incident, with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office being the lead agency.

The officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave as per standard procedure.
