MOUNTAIN, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Oconto County say a 55-year-old man is dead after he was thrown from a snowmobile during a crash Friday evening.
According to a release from the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at 5:07 p.m. for reports of a one-vehicle crash involving a snowmobile in the Town of Mountain.

Officials say the snowmobile, driven by a 55-year-old Mequon man, was heading south of County Highway W on a trail near Bonita Road when it appeared to lose control after one of the skis on the snowmobile hit a signpost.
The snowmobile came to rest in a ditch while the driver of the snowmobile was thrown from the vehicle during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries.
No other information about this crash is available at this time and an investigation into the incident is ongoing by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources with the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office and the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office assisting.
