Packers fans react to schedule release

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Packers fans have lots of thoughts after getting a first look on Wednesday night at the team’s schedule for next season.

“The first couple weeks aren’t going to be the easiest but I think that based off the draft picks we made and the way we performed last year I think we’re going to be pretty successful this year,” said Packers fan Jared Widish.

For the first time in the Matt Lafleur era, the Packers will open up the season at Lambeau Field. It won’t be easy though as they welcome in the defending NFC North champion Detroit Lions. Week two is hardly any easier as they welcome the Washington Commanders to Titletown.

“I say let’s just get right into it, and if it’s home it’ll give us the advantage and it’s going to be a great year,” said Packers fan Jay Young.

The Packers won’t play an international game this season and also won’t play on Christmas. However, they will head out to Detroit for a showdown against the Lions on Thanksgiving.

“I love Thanksgiving games, it’s a great way to spend the day, sit with family and enjoy it,” said Packers fan Carter Helt.

“It’s as much as Thanksgiving as turkey and stuffing,” said Young.

Another big game on the schedule is a Monday Night Football matchup against the defending Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles eliminated the Packers from the playoffs last season.

The Pack will need to wait until December for their first matchup against the Chicago Bears.

“It’s going to be a win regardless, doesn’t matter when we play them the Bears still suck,” Helt said.

“I’m worried about our games against the Bears I think with that new Chicago pope I think it might be a challenge for us but overall I think it’ll be a great year,” Young added.

The Packers finish up the regular season against their division rival Minnesota Vikings. Packers fans are hopeful that their season will extend far beyond week 18 though.

According to ESPN.com, the Packers have the fifth hardest schedule in the NFL next season. Nine of their games are against teams that won at least 10 games last season.
