KENOSHA, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities are warning residents to stay alert following reports of scammers posing as charitable fundraisers outside local grocery stores.
According to the Kenosha Police Department, there has been a recent uptick in incidents where individuals claim to be collecting donations for various causes. These suspects often insist on credit card donations and request to use the victim’s cellphone to process the transaction—ultimately leading to unauthorized charges.

Police advise the public to verify any fundraising efforts by asking for official identification or documentation. Residents are reminded not to hand over their credit card or cellphone to strangers.
