GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – With an abundance of businesses bringing in extra food for the NFL Draft, a local nonprofit stepped in to make sure leftovers didn’t go to waste.
Rooted In Inc., an organization that focuses on fighting food insecurity and waste, partnered with the NFL to ensure as much food as possible was rescued.

“We’ve already rescued over 6,615 pounds,” said Selena Darrow, Rooted In Inc.’s founder and executive director. “We put a call out on social media over the last couple of days saying that if any food trucks, restaurants or food vendors had food left over from draft activities, we would gladly come and pick it up.”
Rooted In Inc. said several more businesses reached out Monday to donate additional food.
