WYEVILLE, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials in Wisconsin are investigating two deaths after a report of bodies found in the water on Sunday afternoon.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported a call from Sunday at 2:45 p.m. that a person found what they believed to be a body in the East Fork Lemonweir River.

According to the release, the caller said they went to the area to look for two people who hadn’t been seen since the night before. Further investigation revealed that the two people were at the Backwater Bar and Grill that night and had not been seen since leaving.
Assistance from the Fort McCoy Water Rescue, Tomah Rescue Techs and Oakdale Fire Department came in to search the waterway behind the bar, and the bodies of the missing man and woman were located and recovered from the river.
The investigation is underway; however, foul play was not indicated.
