GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials in Green Bay say the Shipyard District, Inc. is expected to hold a ceremony on Monday to unveil brand new street banners.

According to a release, the new banners will be on permanent display throughout the Shipyard District, including along South Broadway, State Street, and 9th Street.

The new street banners, designed by local artist and director of the Shipyard District, Inc., Tarl Knight, will feature four alternating designs that showcase the identity and history of the district.

The unveiling ceremony is expected to also feature brief remarks from district officials as well as a dedication to the late Jim Piontek, who is said to be “a founding member of SDI, a former Shipyard District business owner, and a lifelong friend and supporter of district bars and restaurants.”

Officials say the banners are one of many improvements being made to the Shipyard District streetscapes since the announcement of the public-private partnership between the Shipyard District, Inc., and the City of Green Bay.

The unveiling ceremony is currently scheduled for Monday, April 28, at 5:30 p.m., just outside the Blue Collar Bar & Grill on 1313 South Broadway.
