ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WFRV) – The savory smell of booyah fills the air at the Souper Day shop along Holmgren Way at Marvelle Lane.
The location sandwiched between Lambeau Field and The Rockers Stadium, but outside the official NFL Draft footprint, is hoping to convince folks their home cooking is worth a few extra steps.
Although owner Julie Baranek tells Local 5 News that their parking lot will be available for customers during the draft. Those were just some of the logistics they had to work out for the largest event Green Bay has ever seen.
“We’re going to have some air mattresses and a cot back there because you never know,” joked Baranek. “I think we’re going to be okay.”
They’re asking locals to tell visiting family and friends to stop in.
“We have some really fun food specials made by me. No fake food.”
Among the items are hot booyah which is a hearty stew with chicken, beef or pork and vegetables including carrots, potatoes and cabbage. They’re also offering a beef croissant and pulled pork sandwich with the meat from Crivitz.
“I’ll be cooking here and feeding people for as long as we can,” Baranek said with glee. “We’re going to have a grand old time!”
Timekeeper Distillery extending hours during NFL Draft, promoting Wisconsin Pride to visitors
They’re opening at 10 in the morning for the draft along with the Timekeeper Distillery that shares the space.
“We’ll have our Bloody Marys and old-fashioned cocktails on tap,” said Distillery Supervisor Myranda Rivera. “You can add our spirits, all made in Wisconsin, or have a non-alcoholic version. We’re very n/a friendly.”
