Authorities with the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office have provided an update to the now multi-day standoff in the Village of Fredonia after hours of negotiations and tactical resources have been unsuccessful in de-escalating the situation.

Deputies have since provided some clarity and updates as to how the dangerous situation unfolded, saying it began around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, when Fredonia residents reported hearing multiple gunshots throughout the day.

After deputies began to monitor the area of Fox Glen Road, no gunshots were heard. However, around 10:30 p.m., the suspected homeowner was contacted, and they admitted to playing loud music and firing weapons from their home.

The suspect then allegedly stated that he was “going to continue playing music, and if anyone came to his residence, he would shoot them.” Shortly after that call, deputies reportedly heard multiple gunshots coming from the home.

After further investigation, deputies determined that he had been firing several different guns in unknown directions, including an automatic rifle, which posed a significant threat to those in the area.

In the following hours since the standoff began, deputies have reported the suspect to have made several explicit threats toward law enforcement, allegedly saying “he’d go full auto” and “kill anyone who approached.” Deputies say that he had even aimed a rifle at law enforcement armored vehicle at the scene ‘multiple times.’
