MONROE COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – A Wisconsin man was arrested after allegedly attempting to deliver methamphetamine to an inmate at the Monroe County Jail while working a food delivery shift.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Zechariah Borden of Viroqua was arrested Thursday after security cameras showed him handing a package to inmate Nicholas Hage, who was assisting with receiving a food delivery.

Corrections deputies quickly separated Borden and Hage and recovered the package. Investigators later determined it contained methamphetamine.
“Borden’s quick food delivery became an extended stay as he was booked into the jail,” the sheriff’s office said in a release.
Court records show Borden was charged with:
- Manufacture/Deliver Amphetamine (3 grams or less) – Felony
- Deliver Illegal Articles to Inmate – Felony
- Possession of Methamphetamine – Felony
- Possess Drug Paraphernalia – Misdemeanor
Hage also faces new charges, including:
- Possess Illegal Article (Repeater) – Felony
- Possession of Methamphetamine (Repeater) – Felony
- Possess Drug Paraphernalia (Repeater) – Felony
Both Borden and Hage are expected to appear in court on Monday.
