On Monday and Wednesday, Wisconsin State Patrol airplanes were used in conjunction with ground vehicles to enforce speeding and aggressive driving laws on a segment of the Beltline.

Officers made 67 total traffic stops, with four violations for speeds of 100 miles per hour. Additionally, there were two OWI arrests, nine flex lane violations issued, and an average speed of 83 miles per hour during the stops.

“Wisconsin State Patrol and Dane County law enforcement partners will continue with Beltline enforcement efforts throughout the year,” stated the Wisconsin State Patrol. “Our goal is not to simply stop or cite motorists, but to make our highways as safe as possible.”

The agency says additional aerial enforcement operations are scheduled as part of an ongoing initiative to reduce crashes and enhance roadway safety along the Beltline corridor.
