WINNECONNE, Wis. (WFRV) – During a traffic stop near Winneconne High School on Wednesday afternoon, a woman from western Wisconsin who said she was in the area to fish was arrested on several drug charges.
On June 11, officers with the Winneconne Police Department say they conducted a traffic stop on Wolf Run near Winneconne High School.

Officers noted that the driver, a 44-year-old woman from Monroe County, said she decided to come to Winneconne to go ‘fishing,’ and allegedly showed “several suspicious indicators” during the traffic stop.
The woman was also reportedly on active probation for five prior felony convictions, including for the manufacture and delivery of methamphetamine. Due to being on probation and the suspicious behavior, the officer searched the vehicle.
During the search, officers reportedly found the drugs and drug paraphernalia in the photo shown.

The woman was subsequently taken to the Winnebago County Jail on the following charges that will be referred to the Winnebago County District Attorney’s Office:
- Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine (10-50g)
- Repeater
- Possession with intent to distribute on/near certain places (high school)
- Repeater
- Possession of Schedule I/II narcotics (fentanyl)
- Repeater
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Repeater
- Felony bail jumping
“We welcome folks to our amazing community to enjoy our wonderful fishing, but please don’t come here and bring this poison with you…If you do, you will certainly catch more than a fish,” Winneconne PD’s Facebook post concluded.
